Finished Open University course S197, How the Universe Works, which may overstate things just a little, but was fun nevertheless. Things got a little strange when the course touched briefly on String theories and M-Theory and, being me, I nearly screwed up the submission process for the end of course assessment, though I don’t feel it was entirely my fault, and said as much to the course advisor. The documentation indicated that the end of course assessment needed to be submitted in two separate parts, the first being 20 multiple choice questions and the second in the more usual exam format. It transpires that these need to be submitted via different electronic systems on the OU website yet I have reread all the documentation that I received with the course and can find nothing that specifically indicates this.
At least that’s done now, what isn’t done is any astronomy. Welcome to 2009, the Year of Astronomy, seems very much like 2008, the Year of Not Astronomy, in this locality at least. Having been told today that my job is going down the nick in a couple of months I might be able to devote a little more time to it as there look like being fewer days to get up early for in the future. Have to admit to missing out on Friday night, it was cool and clear but I was already busy cramming until 6 a.m. to get my coursework ready to go in over the weekend.
